Traful village is near important tourist centers as San
Martín de los Andes and Bariloche (100 Km), and 60 Km
from Villa La Angostura. It's 705 m.o.s.l. and has a
similar amount of inhabitants.
Traful village and the outskirts deserve more than a
short visit. From November to April, according to the
fishing season, many people chose it as a destiny or for
excursion, as it is quite accessible the whole year. By
RN 237, from Confluencia to Traful village there are 35
Km. of dirt road in good condition. First 20 Km., along
Traful river, goes inside a transitional landscape
between steppe and forest, where stands out the andean
cypress. Both sides of the road show big masses of
volcanic rocks with strange forms thanks to the erosion.
Crossing Cuyín Manzano bridge, you can go on to the
left. You'll go across the gully, where you would see
the Andean condor habitat. At the end, a school and
several settlers. Ask for Chamorro or Riquelme's
families, which would sell you red fruits, baby goat
meat and home made bread.
Traful river counts on good places for fly casting, and
interesting rapids for kayac and rafting lovers
In 1997, famous Ted Turner bought La Primavera estate,
of almost 5.000 has, paying 7,3 million dollars.
Again on RP 65 towards the west, after 4 km more, the
village appears. At the entrance, a few meters before de
gas station, you'll see the tourism office, which also
offers Internet. Traful village is tiny, its
architecture style still is harmonic with the
environment and has scarce streets, according to the
village design created by National Parks in 1936. The
tourist structure is good, with high quality gastronomy
and home made foodstuff. Comfortable inns and cabins
invite having a pleasant stay. There are many camp sites
by the lake, allowing full contact with nature and
access to nice beaches and fishing places (only fishing
with returning is allowed). |
