Trevelin.

With 10.000 inhabitants, it's in the southern point of
the lakes corridor and only 24 km of paved route from
Esquel, in a charming valley surrounded by colors and
mountains.
It's name comes from the historic flour grinder
(Tre=town, velin=grinder, in welsh).
It possesses a good tourist structure, with lodging near
important attractions like Los Alerces National Park,
the frontier with Chile by Futaleufu and other close
places. We can't forget to mention the typical welsh
tea, with its cakes, pies, scones and other "diet"
delicacies.
Brief history
The "Cwm Hyfryd" (Beautiful valley) or16 de Octubre Colony,
was named like that in1888 by welsh community arisen from
other colonies, as Gaiman and Dolavon, created 20 years before
by the Atlantic coast.
Surnames like Jones, Williams, Evans, Roberts, Hughes,
Griffit, Ap Iwan, Underwood, Freeman, among others, belonged
to that 50 families which arrived at the coast of Golfo Nuevo
in the "Mimosa" ship (where now lies Puerto Madryn).
Though most of them were not farmers, they were decided to
work on that activity in this country, desiring to be free for
practising their religion, language and traditions. There, in
the semi desert lower valley of Chubut river and by
irrigation, they developed a wheat cultivation which gained
international prizes for its quality.
The people of 16 de Octubre Colony also devoted to that
activity, and that's why John D. Evans founded the Andes
Company flour grinder in 1922, today become regional museum.
