Sport fishing on Caleufú river |
|
|
|
One of the best attractions
offered by the rivers and lakes of the region is their wealth
for fishing lovers. As it is a sport, it is regulated. The
season usually starts on the second Saturday of November and
ends the last week of April.
This period aims to preserve the resource, allowing the fishes
to develop their reproductive cycle, which takes place in
winter, without any alteration.
When fall ends, the fishes start an exhausting journey
upstream in order to spawn. The reproduction of the trout
requires special conditions; though it may seem unbelievable,
2.000 eggs are needed to produce 1 kg of trout, as natural
predators, the current and other factors contribute to the
loss of a great part of the spawn.
Fishing out of the allowed period is another factor which
risks losing this important tourist resource of the region. It
is up to you to preserve it.
You must carry the fishing permit, available in National Parks
offices, tourist information offices or authorized fishing
stores, and be aware of fishing rules in force - they are
included in the permit.
You can find brown, fontinalis or rainbow trout. Native
species are totally protected by law.
Spinning, trolling and fly casting are allowed; you can find
the places regulated for each method by reading the fishing
permit or asking in the stores. It is advisable to hire a
fishing guide. |
